More recently Gibsons earned an award for liveability from the United Nations-backed International Awards for Liveable Communities.  It was Gibsons aggressive approach to encourage developement that conserves land, water and energy which helped them to secure the first place title.

The beautiful Sunshine Coast is only a 40 minute ferry ride from West Vancouver and is comprised of communities such as Gibsons, Roberts Creek, Sechelt, and Pender Harbour.  So called due to it's abundance of sunshine, the Sunshine Coast is alive with many annual music and arts festivals, which enrich the lives of all who live here and those who visit.  Whether as a getaway or complete change in lifestyle, the Sunshine Coast is paradis only a stones throw away...
